Why we started

Business Growth Academy was founded in 2019 after repeated conversations with UK owner-operators who had learned plenty but still felt stuck in the same operational loop. They had a marketing plan, a sales script, and a stack of tools. What they didn’t have was a weekly cadence that made the plan survive contact with Monday morning: clear owners, leading indicators, and a way to turn discussions into decisions without the founder acting as the router for everything.

The problem wasn’t a lack of ambition. It was missing infrastructure: role clarity that reduced escalation, a pipeline with entry/exit definitions, and operations documentation that made delegation safe. We built the Academy around those unglamorous building blocks. Every module is designed to produce an artefact—scorecards, SOP outlines, interview scorecards, a pricing decision memo—so momentum comes from execution, not motivation.

Mission

Teach entrepreneurs to run a measurable operating rhythm across demand, delivery, and leadership—so growth is a series of decisions and habits, not a burst of energy.

What makes the curriculum different

  • Artefacts over lectures: every week ends with a concrete deliverable.
  • Leading indicators: scorecards that surface constraints early, not after month-end.
  • Cadence-based accountability: pipeline reviews, 1:1s, and decision logs.
  • Mentor feedback: rubrics that pressure-test definitions and assumptions.

Team and mentors

The Academy is delivered by operators and advisors who have built teams, fixed go-to-market execution, and installed basic operating systems in growing companies. Mentors use consistent rubrics—definitions, constraints, owners, and dates—so feedback stays practical. Expect vocabulary like RACI, leading indicators, throughput constraints, and qualification criteria, because those are the levers that make growth repeatable.

HF

Hannah F. — Leadership Mentor (ILM L5)

Hannah has spent 11 years building management systems in UK service businesses, with a focus on role clarity and the weekly 1:1. She is known for making accountability concrete without creating bureaucracy. Her clinics often start with one question: “What decision did this meeting produce?”

In the Academy, she teaches how to set expectations, coach performance, and reduce founder escalation by tightening ownership and definitions.

DL

David L. — Sales Mentor (MEDDICC Practitioner)

David has worked across B2B pipeline design and sales management for 12 years, with a preference for simple stage definitions and auditable qualification. He is meticulous about hygiene: next actions, close plans, and reason codes for lost deals.

In clinics, he helps teams rewrite stages, set entry and exit criteria, and run a weekly pipeline review that produces actions instead of commentary.

SK

Sarah K. — Marketing Mentor (CIM)

Sarah has led positioning and demand programmes for 10 years, mostly in UK B2B services. She is practical about messaging: clear categories, sharp offers, and simple proof points that sales teams can use without improvising.

In the Academy, she teaches segmentation, offer packaging, and how to build a campaign calendar that connects to pipeline stages and measurable conversion.

RM

Ravi M. — Operations Mentor (Lean Six Sigma Green Belt)

Ravi has 13 years of experience designing delivery systems, from fulfilment workflows to quality checks and capacity planning. He is known for translating messy “tribal knowledge” into simple SOPs that new hires can follow without shadowing for weeks.

His modules focus on throughput constraints, handoffs, and a weekly scorecard review built around leading indicators and ownership.

MP

Maya P. — Strategy Mentor (MBA)

Maya advises founders on strategy as choices and trade-offs: where to compete, how to price, and which constraints are non-negotiable. She has 9 years in strategy and operations roles and prefers one-page decision memos to long decks.

In the Academy, she teaches segmentation, positioning logic, and the operating assumptions that must be true for a plan to work in practice.

TC

Tom C. — Admissions and Cohort Lead (PgCert Coaching)

Tom manages admissions and cohort structure, helping members choose a starting track based on constraints rather than preference. He has 8 years of experience running cohort programmes and is disciplined about scope: one constraint, one track, one measurable rhythm.

If you are unsure where to begin, Tom will ask for current metrics and decision cadence, then route you to the right clinic.

How the year is structured

Members tend to make progress when learning is paired with a predictable cadence. Instead of one-off workshops, the Academy runs repeating cycles: clinics that map to the curriculum, monthly decision workshops, and office hours for work-in-progress. You can attend live sessions or use recordings, but the value comes from doing the deliverable and reviewing it with a mentor.

Event Typical schedule Format
Sales pipeline clinic Thursdays, 18:00 Live review + action list
Leadership 1:1 calibration Wednesdays, 12:30 Working session + rubric
Operations scorecard review Mondays, 17:30 KPI review + owner decisions
Strategy decision workshop Monthly (last week) Decision memo review

Schedules vary slightly by cohort. Members receive the current calendar on enrolment, with recordings available for those who cannot attend live.
